Pedestrian Gates

The notion of the Pedestrian Gate is that it is made for people to enter and exit the property.  In most cases, the pedestrian gate is in line with the a fence or is the connector between the fence and the side of the house.  The gate design really adds curb appeal and reflects the home's personality.  The chain link fence and vinyl-coated chain link materials do not lend themselves to much design and bear the standard, implicit functional purpose of a gate.  Wood gates, vinyl gates, and iron gates do offer much in design elements.  A lattice top, or iron inset can make a marked difference in the look of the gate; it may be that one thing which brings out the 'wow' in a new installation. 

The structural importance of a gate is that it is well supported by the right sized posts.  In some cases, a metal support on the back side of the gate may be needed to help sustain the weight of the gate over time and keep it from sagging.  Gate hinges and latches may be decorative as well.  There are many gate accessories which may be useful to added security as well as design for your gate.
